Import Performance file Run Command
Enterprise with SP3A. I trying to set up a job to import
Performance Monitors daily into SQL Server table. How
would I set up Performance Monitor to stop at 7AM close
the present file, create a new file at 7:02AM start
collecting statistics. Then I will DTS file into a SQL
Server table.
My performance monitor job name is SAVE_STATISTICS what
run command should I use to start my SAVE_STATISTICS at 7
AM and stop it daily 7:02 AM?
This would be a very help to resolve this issue.
Thank You,
Dan
you could potentially use LOGMAN native command from a remote XP and Windows
2003 computer to Start and Stop the logs at the specified time each day - ie
a Daily scheduled task (Control Panel/ Scheduled Tasks) to do it.
And then as part of the definition of the Perfmon Log / Schedule add the
"Run this command" to have a batch file that calls DTSRUN and executes your
DTS package to import the Data.
a bit messy I admit
regards
Andy.

|||Hi
I replied to you previous post on this subject! Perfmon has it's own method
of scheduling, through the Scheduling tab on the Properties dialog. You can
tell perfmon to stop the performance monitor and start a new log after a
given period. You can also specify that it runs a command when this happens.
This could be your DTS job. To change the name of the input file check out:

Hi
You can schedule the start/stop of performance monitor from within Perfmon
itself. This also allows you to run a script when you close it.

Import data from diferent vendors
Hello,
I have this kind of situation: I have Oracle database from an old application and i have to maje an job to copy it every day into an SQL Server 2005 database. The data should stay in both databases. Is this posible to do it with an job or i have to develop an service? If it is possibe i would like to know how. Is the same possible but from DB2 database to SQL Server 2005 database?
Thanks
Yes its possible. there are many method
(a) Create a linkedserver to Oracledatabase and copy the data : Read Linkedserver In BOL(Books online)
(b) Create a SSIS (Integration Service) package to migrate the data.
(c) Openddatasource
alll these can be scheduled though a job
Madhu

can same be done with DB2 database instead of oracle?
|||yes it can be done. only the provider changes..

import a cube created in AS 2000 into SSAA 2005
a direct import is there any way to make that job easier? Any
suggestions/pointer/comments would be helpful. I have a lot of AS 2000 cube
s
and I am really sick of that development environment!there is no import option
you can try to upgrade your AS2000 server to AS2005.
install AS2000 on a new server, restore your databases and try to upgrade.
if you are a lucky man, then the install can upgrade the cubes, if not, then
there is no choice, you must recreate your cubes.
and, personnaly, I recommend a complete redesign of the cubes because there
is a lot of changes between the 2 versions.
this takes some times, but insure that your cubes will works fine and take
adavnatge of the new capabilities.
